Pangot is surrounded by small villages all of which are just but a small walking distance from Pangot. While walking through the forest laden with pine trees various small villages one can get a spectacular view of the valley. You will note that most villages are built in the traditional Kumaon manner, which consists of using mud, stones, wooden windows with a roof made of slate. The houses also have an open courtyard. It is very common for these villages to have terrace farms where they grow most of their produce and herd cows and sheep.
